For many Native American cultures, the tipi is more than a simple shelter; it holds deep spiritual significance, serving as a sacred space that embodies unity, a connection to nature, and profound spiritual traditions. It is often seen as a representation of the womb of Mother Earth, offering protection and balance.
Each pole of a tipi carries symbolic meaning, representing core values and virtues. The circular structure formed by the poles reflects the interconnectedness of all life. These symbolic values include discipline, respect, humility, happiness, love, faith, kinship, cleanliness, gratitude, sharing, strength, responsible child-rearing, hope, ultimate protection, and control flaps.
The introduction of horses revolutionized the lives of early Native American tribes, particularly those of the Great Plains. Horses enhanced their ability to hunt bison, travel vast distances, and engage in warfare, profoundly reshaping their culture, economy, and social organization.

I wondered what Valentino would like me to paint. I stopped to take a picture of the beautiful sunset when suddenly a single lightning bolt came out of one of those few clouds above the sunset. At that moment I had my answer. I saw the Lightning Boy painting.

Since a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly cannot reveal the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit who hears and sees all. This painting contains a wish.

In my native Central America, hummingbirds are a sign of love. When a hummingbird comes to you, they are reflecting the positive side of life by showing you the joy in small things.

]]>Kokopelli is an iconic flute-playing image from Hopi art that dates back to 3,000 year old Anasazi glyphs. He or she is known for many things – a fertility god, prankster, healer and storyteller. The myth I painted here shows him/her travelling from village to village bringing the change of winter to spring. Many Southwestern Native Americans believed that the hunch on his/her back was a sack where he/she carried seeds and songs.
